Manually Update Samsung Galaxy Note N7000 to XXLPY Android 4.0 ICS

Since Galaxy S2, successor of Samsung Galaxy S3 got Official Android 4.0 ICS Update, along with Samsung Galaxy Nexus, there was few device left who were missed in the initial stage. Yes, i am talking about not another, but Samsung’s Phablet (Tablet+Smartphone). International Galaxy Note N-7000 users were in strong desire to update their device to latest firmware, whose dream will come true now. Finally, Samsung is rolling out Official ICS OTA Update, in various countries in India, we have even proof that India users also got update notification. Though, many users have already enjoy Custom ROM Firmwares, such as CyanogenMod9.,

Samsung Galaxy Note  GT-N7000 is one of major Galaxy Series devices, and it is also hugely sold. Samsung has finally showed their love towards this youth oriented device, with fetching the Ice Cream Sandwich update for their users. The update is named ‘N7000XXLPY’, which is based on Android 4.0.3, which includes TouchWiz users interface. The Note users in India, got the notification of ‘Firmware update required.’ This notification indicates:

  • You must download ODIN. Download Link.

  • Ensure that your Note should be charged at least 80% before you go through the firmware update process, this will make sure that device won’t get shut down during the process.
  • We recommend to make Backup of all data in your Galaxy Note GT-N7000:
  • USB Debugging Mode should be Turned On. Navigate to the path ‘Settings>Applications>Development>USB  debugging’.

How to Manually Install Official Android 4.0 ICS XXLPY Firmware on Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000

Step 1: You need to Download the XXLPY ICS Firmware Package and save it in your computer. Download Link.

Step 2: Now, extract the files downloaded in Step 1.

Step 3: Now, extract the Odin file contents, which you had downloaded in per-requisite section.

Step 4: Now, disconnect your Galaxy Note from computer, and then turn it off. After that you need to start phone in download mode.

Step 5: To put phone in Download mode, press and hold Volume Down+Home+Power keys together before a warning screen displays on the screen.

Step 6: You should open Odin now, you can browse in the folder where you have extracted the file in Step 3, and double-click on Odin3 v1.85.exe.

Step 7: Once ODIN Interface opens up. click on the PDA and then select N7000XXLPY_N7000XALPY_N7000XXLPT_HOME.tar.md5, which you got after extracting file in Step 2.

Step 8: Now, connect phone to the computer. You will see ‘Added’ message in the box. Please remember that PDA option should be checked, while other options should be unchecked as they were by-default.

Step 9: If Added message didn’t appeared, then it might be a problem with drivers. You can try uninstalling and reinstalling Kies and then try again, you should get connectivity now.

Step 10: Now, just below ID/COM, you will see COMM Number, which can be any based on your PC.

Step 11: Simply click on the ‘Start’ button now, this will start flashing XXLPY ICS Firmware on your Galaxy Note Device.

Step 12: After flashing get completed, the phone will automatically get reboot, then you will be welcomed by Samsung Logo. At this stage, you can safely disconnect the data cable from computer and phone. Now, you should get the message with ‘PASS’ showing in the Odin interface. Congratulations! Enjoy ICS on your Samsung Galaxy Note GT-N7000.

Note: If it show ‘Failed Message’, then disconnect PC from computer, remove the battery, and then re-insert. Now, turn on the phone in download mode, and then follow the process again from Step 1 to Step 12.
