ASUS MeMo Pad makes a debut post CES

CES is a worldwide platform to showcase your newly manufactured products but despite of the fact ASUS decided to launch its precious MeMo pad post CES. Tablet is 7” worth $149 and expected to replace its predecessor, Nexus 7 if we consider its price tag. Last year in June, ASUS manufactured Google’s Nexus 7 tablet which made a grand hit. This tablet is not as good as Nexus 7 but at $149 it’s much affordable. Company didn’t reveal model number of ASUS MeMo Pad yet.


Specifications of ASUS MeMo Pad (At a Glance)

  • It supports newly came Android 4.1 Jelly Bean OS, weighs 370 g.
  • Tablet is 7” offers resolution of 1024 x 600 and the best thing is that it’s backlit LED display with 350-nit brightness.
  • It works on 1GHz VIA WM8950 CPU Cortex A9 CPU and a Mali-400 GPU for good graphics.
  • In case of memory it won’t disappoint the users because it has 1 GB if RAM , 8/16 GB of internal memory with Micro SD card and 5GB free ASUS web storage.
  • Alike Nexus 7 it also don’t have rear camera but comes up with 1MP of front camera with 720 HD video capture at 30fps.
  • If it doesn’t support such a good specs but still, its battery surely leads to customer’s satisfaction as it supports quite powerful battery which is approx. 7 hrs and 4270 mAh battery or we can say that as good as Nexus 7.
  • It supports Google Play so that we can have over 75,000 apps and games as well as we can download thousands of T.V. shows, movies ,songs, videos etc.
  • It supports Wi-Fi of 802.11 b/g/n and Connectivity 3.5mm headphone/mic , Microphone Micro-USB port.

It is expected to be ME172V displayed in GL Benchmarks as company did not reveal its model number yet. Lots of rumors regarding its price were out before its launch but as its actual price turned out to be $149. We can say that its low budget 7” Android tablet which is a good news for tablet buyers. Also unlike ASUS previous tablets it is ” Tablet only” and can’t be used as a laptop by connecting with qwerty dock.

Comparison with Nexus 7

We generally have two types of buyers who intended to buy a tablet. Those who just want to check their E-mails, read E-books and surf internet then ASUS MeMo pad is a good option for them. Others are those who want to have pre-installed apps benefits plus downloading options then Nexus 7 can check into those boxes and money can’t be an issue. Because Nexus 7 has far better hardware than a MeMo pad.


ASUS MeMo Pad is available in colors like sugar white, titanium white and cherry pink. It will on sale from April this year.
