Targeting at the educational department, Government initially launched the first Aakash Tablet in October 2011. It was low budget tablet, which ran on Android 2.2. Then second in the series was Aakash 2 which got launched in April 2012, and now finally the 3rd member of the series Aakash 3 is going to launch soon. This time IIT Madras is working in the project.
This news put a full stop on all the rumors which were on air regarding Aakash 3. It surely runs on Android, but which version, it is still not clear. But some specs are clear as the Aakash 3 tablet will have an A8 Cortex processor operating at 1GHz frequency. It comes with 512MB of internal memory and 4 Gigabytes of storage capacity. If we talk about its display, then it sports multi-touch capacitive screen. For video calling, this tab fantastically features front-facing VGA camera and wireless 802.11 b/g/n connectivity. Some features like battery back are still not available.
It is also indicated that Aakash 3 may also have a SIM card slot, which means 3G connectivity, thereby, making it a tablet, which can be used for calling as well and which was not sported in the previous Aakash tablets. Furthermore, students can also enjoy the GPRS facility. Through GPRS, you can access the internet by recharging the SIM. This bit of information is available till yet.
Although this information cannot be estimated as fully true, because the final specs will be declared by the National Mission For Education.
Such kind of specifications shows that this version is also not so different from the previous ones. One vital thing to mention is that the Govt. has plans to hand out these tablets free of cost to a large number of students and for others even, it would not cost too much.
