TechClap Awards 2011: Best Android Smartphones of the Year

The Year 2011 is ending with lot of developments and improvements in IT industry. In smartphones sector, 2011 didn’t gave smooth start to Google Android Operating System. Android got heavy competitions from other OS as well, biggest one was Apple iOS 5, followed by BlackBerry and Nokia’s Symbian Operating System.

Finally, apart from the competition, Android is succeed to present itself as most and widely used Smartphone Operating System. Thanks to all the makers (except Nokia), who implemented and developed smartphones in high numbers. Which increased Android’s market share at more higher level. The major manufacturers who developed and launched Android based Smartphones include- Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, LG and few others. Even, Indian mobile phone makers like Micromax also launched their Android powered phones like Micromax Superfone. The Android OS delivered price-sensitive market, due to the manufacturers who offered low priced Android Smartphones like Samsung Galaxy Y.

We reported, tested, compared and reviewed many Android Powered Smartphones whole the year 2011, and will try to continue in 2012 at more higher level. Meanwhile, we’ve tested and rated Android Smartphones for ‘TechClap Awards 2011′ with the help of our Experts Panel.

1. Samsung Galaxy SII

The award winner, awarded by TechClap, as well as lot of other Magazines, Web Sites declared it best Android Smartphone available in market nowadays. Samsung Galaxy S2 crossed 10 million Units Sales in first five months of it’s launch, obviously it is a special phone. It is stylish and having a sleek form factor, bundled with a bright display and performed good battery backup in our test results by TechClap Labs. It is extremely light weight, and Android OS also delivered faster performance. Thanks to it’s dual core 1.2GHz processor, which performs awesome with Google Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating Sytem. The 1GB RAM also power ups the overall performance of this device, whereas 8MP camera along with LED flash makes it a complete best smartphone. We can proudly say, Samsung Galaxy SII is the winner of ‘Best Android Smartphone of the Year 2011 Award of TechClap.com’.

2. LG Optimus 3D

As per today’s digital world, how can you imagine your gadgets without 3D. Of course, with mulch-dimensional experience you’ll get a different and awesome experience. The LG Optimus 3D is most powerful 3D equpped Android Smartphone available till date, and it has been sold through several schemes through various operators in India. Though, it’s close competitor HTC Evo 3D also launched just after few months of Optimus 3D’s launch in India. Here are it’s brief specs:

  • 3D without glasses
  • ARM Cortex-A9 Dual Core 1GHz processor along with PowerVR SGX540 Graphics
  • 512MB RAM, 8GB in-built storage and supports 32GB microSD card.
  • 5MP Dual Cameras Captures 3D images, records 1080p @ 30fps 2D videos and 720p @ 30fps 3D videos.
  • 4.3-inch 3D display with 480×800 pixel resolution

LG Optimus 3D: Price Rs. 37,000 in India.

Hence, LG Optimus 3D is second best smartphone, we are happy to declare, and giving it our Runner Up 1 Award.

3. HTC Sensation

Though, HTC Sensation XE also arrived, but we haven’t tested it yet, but we’ve tested HTC Sensation recently. That’s why it is nominated in Android Smartphone Awards category. It is very strong competitor to Samsung Galaxy S2 with it’s screen resolution and interface. The phone is built good, and looks and feel is solid. Here are some specs of HTC Sensation:

  • S-LCD capacitive touch screen display with 16MP colors. 540x960pixels resolution
  • Supports microSD card up to 32GB, 8GB comes with sales package, and 1GB on-board storage
  • Qualcomm MSM8260 Snapdragon Chipset, Scorpion 1.2GHz Qualcomm processor, Adreno 220 GPU
  • 8MP camera with dual-LED flash and autofocus.
  • HTC Sense 3.0 UI

HTC Sensation: Price Rs. 29,600 in India.

HTC Sensation is 2nd Runner Up.

4. Motorola Droid X2

Launched in May 2011, the Motorola Droid X2 is one of most durable and powerful smartphones nowadays. It runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System. It has mulch-touch capacitive touch screen, and powered by a Nvidia Tegra 2 Processor along with 512MB RAM. It has in-built memory of 8GB, and supports up to 32GB microSD card.  The phone have 8 megapixel camera, Dual LED flash and Auto focus capability. It scored 4th position in ‘TechClap Awards 2011: Best Android Smartphones’.

Motorola Droid X2: Price Rs. 30,500 (approx) in India.

5. Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc

The Xperia Arc has arrived in early 2011, and caught attention of bigger part of the users. Obviously, it is one of most preferred phone, which consumers consider while purchasing a high-end Android Smartphone. It also runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread Operating System, and will be also upgradable to latest Google Android 4.0. It is powered by a Qualcomm MSM8255 Snapdragon Chipset, 1GHz Scoprion CPU and Adreno 205 GPU. This smartphone also boasts of 8MP camera which can capture images at up to 3264×2448 pixels resolution. The Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc is fifth best phone, we tested for TechClap Awards 2011.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc: Price Rs. 21,650 in India.

No matter, we’ve awarded these smartphones as best of 2011,  but probably these ones would be smarter purchase if you buy them on occasion on New Year, though we’ll able to declare ‘Best Android Smartphones of 2012‘ by next year end, just because lot more smartphones to come.
