Nokia Symbian Belle Smartphones Gets Microsoft Apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

Nokia has today announced that its latest Symbian Belle Operating System Powered Smartphones will get free update of Microsoft Apps. This news comes at such a time when Both the Giants, Nokia and Microsoft are working on forthcoming Nokia’s Windows 7 Smartphones.

Microsoft Apps is productivity applications suit that enhances the mobile office capability of the Symbian Belle Smartphones. The latest Microsoft Apps suit will also enhance the security features of the latest Symbian operating system, so that users can take fully business advantage of Symbian Belle, the company mentioned.

“Work is an important part of personal lifestyle, aspiration and achievement for many people around the world,” says Purnima Kochikar, VP business mobility, Nokia. “Just as Symbian Belle extends the everyday possibilities for social interaction, we wanted to extend the possibilities to manage personal worklife for individuals and employers. Microsoft Apps is another example of Nokia’s ongoing commitment to continue delivering value and innovation to Symbian users.”

Microsoft Apps has various productivity and collaboration tools including Microsoft Lync 2010 Mobile, Microsoft OneNote, Microsoft PowerPoint Broadcast and Microsoft Document Connection that also provides the access to Microsoft Sharepoint on the Symbian Belle Platform. The company has announced that they’ll release another update to Microsoft Apps which will come with other most required apps by business users, the Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint native applications that are first time being launched for a platform other than Windows. Starting fourth quarter of 2011, the Microsoft Apps will be released via over the air (OTA) or via PC download function. The handsets owner which can update their handsets includes, Nokia N8, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia E7, Nokia E6, Nokia X7, Nokia 700, Nokia 701, Nokia 600 and Nokia Oro Smartphone owners.

Nokia has also stated that they’re working with Microsoft to enhance the Symbian Belle’s mobile management with Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2012. If you’re one of above mentioned smartphone owners, be ready to update your phone.
