How to Buy/ Order Nexus 7 Tablet in India via Google Play

Google Nexus 7 Tablet, which was launched in November 2012, never made its emergence in the retail market. The Nexus 7 was originally made available in the USA for $199, and was not available for purchase for Indian customers. Croma listed the device recently, but later it was taken down. Asus has also elucidated the selfsame that they have not launched the Nexus 7 in India, and it will available later. The users were abiding for the arrival of the device in India, and some have even acquired it from the grey market and from the eBay sellers, at much higher price. Finally, the wait is over, and Google has listed the Nexus 7 device for Indian customers.

Where to Buy (Pricing, Payment Details and Availability)

Nexus 7 Tablet is currently available only in one version, which is 16GB variant. The version is Wi-Fi only and currently exclusively available through Google Play. Google has already discontinued 8GB model of the tablet, and as result 16GB is the most basic model of Nexus 7. Though US price is $199 and Indian price is bit higher, which is set as Rs. 15,999.

The US Price is $199 as I have mentioned above, which converts to the Rs. 10,777. So, if you buy the product from U.S., then it will much cheaper. Final price, if you import from U.S. (Rs. 1577 Product Price + Rs. 1000 shipping + Rs. 1885 duty) which converts to Rs. 13,662 exactly. Hence, if you get the device from U.S., then you can save the bucks.

If you still interested to buy from Indian Google Play store, then it will take around 3-7 days to ship the device, according to Google Play Store. The first batch of shipments will begin from April 8, 2013. Google will be shipping the device through FedEx or Aramax, both services are available across the country.

How to Order Nexus 7 Tablet in India through Official Google Play Store

Step 1: Visit the http://play.google.com/

Step 2: Chances are that, you have just seen Nexus 7 Tablet right no Google Play Homepage, but if it is not listed there, then just don’t be panic. Click on Shop Menu (Placed right below Google Play Logo in the header), and then select ‘Shop Devices’ option.

Step 3: You will see Books, Android Apps, and Devices on the Next Page, and on the right side, Nexus 7 is displayed along with the picture. Just click on the ‘Shop Now’ Button’.

Step 4: After you click the ‘Shop Now’ button, you will be welcomed at the page saying ‘Nexus 7 16GB’ and ‘Learn More’.

Step 5: You will then redirected to the page saying Nexus 7 Features, and Tech Specs. Right on the left side, you will see Rs. 15,999 along with the status ‘Ships Soon’ and expected date of shipping is ‘April 5, 2013’.  Shipping will be calculated at checkout. On this stage,  we’ve tried to click on ‘Add to Cart’ Button and nothing changed. We’ve got same pricing of Rs. 15,999. That means shipping is either free, or Google have already included the shipping amount in the final pricing.

Step 6: After clicking on ‘Add to Cart’ button, you will see Items in Your Cart, and then Nexus 7 (16GB) in Cart. Just check the number of Nexus 7 devices you want to buy, that will cost you Rs. 15,999 each. Then just click ‘Proceed’.

Step 7: On the next page, you will see Google Wallet, and at this stage, you will have to review the purchase. If everything seems fine, then you can click on ‘Accept and Buy’ button, and you will have to pay Rs. 15,999 through the requested payment method.

That’s it. After confirming the order, and doing the payment, you will receive the receipt in your email ID.

Google Nexus 7 Tablet was introduced at the Google I/O in June 2012. It runs Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, with the support of 1.2 GHz quad-core Cortex A9 NVIDIA Tegra 3T30L processor and 1GB DDR3L RAM. It has a 7-inch IPS LCD capacitive screen, with the resolution of 1280×800 WXGA with 216ppi. Under the hood, there is a 416 MHz twelve-core Nvidia GeForce ULP GPU and 1.2MP front-camera. Overall, the Nexus 7 Tablet is a great tablet, with the powerful hardware and latest firmware.
