Samsung & Reliance Teams up to launch 4G smartphones soon
Reliance Industries has finally decided to offer its data and voice services over 4G networks using LTE technology. For the accomplishment of this decision, Reliance has teamed up with smartphone giant Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. to provide the entry level 4G smartphones all across the country.
The internal sources have claimed that Samsung has agreed to work on Reliance’s proposal and will soon provide entry level smartphones at the price of $100 or Rs. 5,500 in the whole country. These phones will provide the RIL’s voice and high speed data services. This agreement is expected to change the whole way of mobile and telecom industry in India.
Further, the entry level phones will provide the data packages at Rs. 100 or less while the high-end smartphones will be made available at minimum down-payments and the equated monthly installments (EMIs) will be incorporated in subsequent bills at a 0% interest rate.
Both Reliance and Samsung has denied to comment anything regarding this new deal. But it has been expected that the soft launch will happen in Mumbai and Delhi by the middle of the year and a formal announcement will follow sometime later, probably on 28 December, which happens to be the birth anniversary of Reliance founder, late Dhirubhai Ambani.
This deal can further enhance the Samsung’s business in the country. Samsung has been offering a number of 4G smartphones internationally under its Galaxy portfolio. In the United States, the company has a broad portfolio of 4G smartphones supporting both FDD-LTE and TDD-LTE technologies. In India company is launching these phones under TDD LTE technology.
